During one of the most trying times in recent history for the NHS, it's disappointing to hear about fraudulent claims being made, which continue to threaten the viability of the health service.
It's reassuring to see from this article that not everyone gets away with it. There will still be a significant cost involved to prove fraud and good to see that the NHS is now intending to prosecute fraudulent claims.
Last year the NHS in England estimated that it faced £83 billion in outstanding compensation claims, including £4.3 billion in legal fees. The service receives more than 10,000 new claims each year.
