A team of Russian medics have taken "working under pressure" to new heights after completing open heart surgery as a fire raged through a two-storey hospital.

Whilst 120 people were evacuated the ten-strong surgical team, who were already three hours into the procedure, continued for a further two hours to ensure the operation was successfully completed even after power was lost and the emergency generator kicked in.

Surgeons and medics work under stressful circumstances on a regular basis, but professionalism and duty of care to the patient always comes first.
